GazK
How about a TMB planetary? I have a 6mm and it works nicely in my 10" f5 dob... at that price why not get two?
Orion_the_Hunter
I got a 6mm TS eyepiece HR Planetenokular - 6mm Brennweite - 1,25' - 60° WW FeldI haven't used it yet tbh (Dob only arrived yesterday).I've heard good things about them though.Ed

John
Any other options or opinions on an eyepiece purchase, hope to get one that will be with me for a long time.PaulLook out for a used 8mm Tele Vue Radian. It will be top end of your budget but it's the sort of eyepiece you could be happy with for a long time.
paul mc c
I was thinking on these lines John, something of quality that i would be happy with, what are they like on planets.Paul
LMC
Paul,The TMB and TS EPs are the same. I find the TMB, despite being very good for its price, shows a lot of scatter. This is a shame, as the 9mm/60* combo is near perfect for lots of things in all of my scopes! If your budget can stretch to it a 9mm Nagler is an excellent choice for a Newt or Cass. The Vixen / Orion NLV and LVW are reputedly very good, but I don't have 1st-hand experience with them. West End Wendy
Pentax XF 8.5mm - 60 degree FOV, 18mm eye-relief. Smaller, lighter and cheaper than a radian, but still a top quality and versatile eyepiece. http://www.firstlightoptics.com/products.php?cat=99Tim
ronin
For what you describe a TV 8mm plossl would be OK.Only thing is that you lose the eye relief a bit over the TMB's.
brantuk
Radians are around £100 s/h and are great performers in my f5 scope. The 8mm is smashing. I also use the 8mm Hyperion - another very nice ep around £95 new or £65-£70 s/h

swamp thing
Hi PaulYou have a nice size scope there it's certainly worth you investing in some quality eyepieces. My vote would be for the 8mm Radian too, or as stated by LMC, if you can wait and save a bit more, the 9mm Nagler would work very well indeed.
