Saturn 16/2/11 second attempt - help!

Hello guys,

I had a crack at imaging Saturn for the second time with this set-up. I think I still have a way to go! Although to be honest, I think this may be beyond the capacity of my kit

Shot with Celestron Ultima and Skywatcher 2x Barlows, double-stacked. This also used my PSEye camera, since it is generally better and has higher sensitivity (the blue channel in this image is awful though)

Shot with just the Ultima, and enlarged 2x using the SPC 900NC:

Any hints of tips on how to improve? (Focussing was seriously tough...) Cheers!

Shot with a Skywatcher 130P, RA drive, Baader IR-cut filter, Celestron Ultima + Skywatcher barlows.

Brilliant pictures, mine look like a bit of a blurry mess

When you say the blue channel is poor, has that anything to do with the yellow colour, if yellow is made up of red and green?

Try using only the ultima barlow and no IR filter. Might be a smaller image but it should look more defined.

They are a good 2nd shot on saturn m8... iv to yet try saturn since getting into imaging and to be honest ill be happy to get some pics like this

a good start mate,its probably more to do with seeing condition than anything else!

keep playing with the focus and settings and keep plenty of notes

Have a look at this, it's a colour separation of the top image. Red green blue. Check out the blue!

Blue is always a problem on Saturn. With mono CCDs you can do Ir-RGB image if you can get a good Ir channel (Saturn is dimmer in Ir than in ~green). RGG instead of RGB can also be a solution.
