Polaris Startrails & Timelapse Video

This is a shot from our garden and shows about 2 hours 20 minutes worth of rotation at 17mm, 21 sec at Iso 1250, combined in Startrails.

I also made a timelapse vidoe of it. I was very surprised to see how the stars are dancing in the lefthand window

nice work, it's cool to see the offset of Polaris from the NCP and the distinct star colours. There does looks like there is some lens distortion showing, the arcs are slightly egg shaped, should be easy to correct in PS

Kev, you are spot on with the lens distortion! Its the 17-40 on the 5DmkII and the distortion is terrible at the edges, it shows even more when lots of shots are combined. This was my first ever startrails including Polaris and I never thought of the distortion the lens will do to the stacked photo...Lesson lernt, I will take the 24-105 next time

the 17-40mm does have a distortion problem but it can be corrected in post.

Beautiful! I love how the stars draw their trails across the sky, and how you have accumulated streaks from all the other objects that passed over.
