Dont rush, choose carefully, there are lots and lots out there, choice your path wisely, either just viewing or possibly want to take photos, they will help here, its a good place for advice

Hi Pak and welcome, I have been researching to buy a telescope for a couple of months. I keep thinking I've found the right one, having raised the budget from £400 to £1000!, then something else enters the equation. Take a look at www.astro-baby.com 'So you want to buy a telescope - Part 1' great info and it might help to point you in the right direction. The author is an active and prominent member of this forum. I was pointed at it when I first joined and I am now pointing newcomers at the site as I found it so useful.

I think for me it's 'play the waiting game' there's so much choice when it comes to scopes, and I still don't know what I want one to do, so for now it's a cheap pair of binos, lots more reading and a good few weeks of sky lurking...

Would recommend starting with a good pair of binoculars (borrow some if possible) and also by downloading Stellarium which is a wonderful free virtual planetarium and will help you find your way around the skies
