Astroblagger
A couple of pics of Auriga on an HEQ5 Pro with 450D and 18-55mm kit lens, 3 min exposure. Only post processing a bit of diffusion added to bring out the brighter stars.
LukeSkywatcher
Lovely image. I really must have another look at Auriga. Its a beautiful target with lots to see. Try as i have, i have never managed to observe the flaming star nebula. I've observed the location but it has eluded me.Here is the general area. I call this asterism/cluster "The Children". I think i read it somehwere:Remind me again of the designation of the cluster in the top left corner of your image, please. I know its not in the constellation but its visible in the image so deserves a label. My apologies for hijacking. Its just one of my favourite areas. Astroblagger
I think it is M35? Im not 100% on that though.
jgs001
Very nice pair of images. The asterism you've marked Paul, I think is called the little fish. If you look closely to the left of M38 (upside down) there's another asterism, the smiley face. M35 is in the upper left hand corner, by Gemini's toe's.
