List of things to get....

Hey guys, im putting together a list of things to get me started in the world of DSO's with a DSLR....Here is what i have put together so far, if im missing anything let me know ASAP so i can add to my 'wish list' so when payday rolls up i can get out there and buy it all!

1 x Canon EOS 1000D (Body only)

1 x T-Ring for EOS

1 x T-Adapter

1 x 1.25" Diagonal (WO Dielec, or would 2" Be better?)

1 x Case for all of the above

Thats it so far, remember this i just to get me going i know ill need a Field Flattener at some point (ASAP really) but its all about money...

For imaging you won't need a diagonal, but you will probably need an extension tube of equivalent length to compensate.

What would be better? Tube, or Diagonal? Could i use a Diagonal as i will still be observing (with same scope) Not at the same time though lol

A tube would be better as there's no mirror in there to attract dust.

When i am imaging through my Orion ED80 using my 350D there is no need for an extension tube as there is sufficient outward focus .

So you go straight onto the Draw tube with the Adapter from your Camera?

The focal distance will also be affected by a focal reducer. If you want good star images across the full field of view of the camera I would get a good focal reducer first. I don't need an extension tube when using a FR with my 1000d and Meade 5000.
