Positioning a Telrad on the scope

Good afternoon.

I have just purchased a Telrad Finder to use on my Skywatcher Explorer 150p. Whereabouts on the the tube would you suggest to place it?

Your going to need to get your eye directly in line with "screen" on the telrad to see the projected image of the reticule properly which is possibly while some people put them on raised mounts... i would try and align it to the scopes axes...

Usually up at the end, next to the normal finder, I have a pic on here somewhere of mine, found the link, mine has a home made dew shield on it in the pics :-

Use blu-tak first then when you are happy stick it down.

I agree with Doc try different locations before you stick it on for good, once you stick it on with the tape it's very hard to get off.

be careful if u remove the original finder-scope, it has a big rectangular metal backing inside the tube, always make sure your scope is horizontal before removing it... otherwise it may drop onto the mirror (there goes the voice of bitter experience)

I use a telrad in conjunction with the original finder scope it fits quite nicely next to it, if you do happen to make a mistake in positioning you can use a plastic ruler to slide it off again. Replacement gel-tape can be bought from B&Q for £5 under the name no more nails on a roll, its the one with the red backing paper

Thanks Lamanaut. I'm planning of keeping the original finder scope in place. Hopefully I won't need that trip to B&Q.
