  1. Ooooh, I meant the holiday package didn't see the travel system, but now I have seen it........
  2. Hi All, I am anticipating, this time next year, a trip to NZ, Aus and a few other tropical areas over 8 weeks and it would be a shame not to get a few images done. Hoping to hire a motorhome in NZ for 28 days so dark nights should be a certainty at some stage. So, to that end I am thinking the NEQ6 and all the other kit might be a bit bulky for a suitcase and starting now to think about other solutions. One that has crossed my mind is a DSLR and the Astrotrac travellers set up, but then I wonder if the ED80 will fit in and go on the astrotrac with the Atik 16ic. I Haven't tried a DSLR yet but
  3. I like the Hubble palette, that looks lovely, sigh, so much to buy - OIII, SII filters and Pixinsight..... oooh xmas coming up
  4. Ah right, I made my own cable up for the direct connection, but still use the ST4 cable from the camera to the mount, but hey if it works stick with it, I never tried without as the advice I read was to use the ST4 cable. EQmod is marvellous though once you get your head around it, polar alignment with it is a doddle too, far easier than setting your polar scope circles up.
  5. I have never tried the pulse guiding, just select camera in PHD under mount I think it is and plug an ST4 cable from the QHY5 to the Mount and it talks direct to the mount rather than sending a signal to the computer to work out and send back. If you don't have the cable stick with what you have as it works
  6. I have connected it to my old Emap GPS and I am sure it came up as decimal, I could be wrong though.
  7. I am pretty sure Eqmod accepts decimal too.
  8. Mark, QHY5 and PHD I have got to 60 mins guiding so far the only trailing I have found is when a cable was slightly dragging over a tripod leg or cloud. I found balance was critical though, never bothered with PEC logging though as that is more for unguided I believe. Like Deneb, I use the graph and star profile all the time. Oh and use the ST4 cable option I think it is easier and probably better than the Ascom pulse method, although that is a rather unqualified statement as I have not tried the latter.
  9. Welcome to the forum, what mount are you using? Unless it is motorised and tracking the object there will be movement as the earth rotates, the smaller mm eyepiece the greater the movement.
  10. Host them on your webspace and link to them using the <IMG> option I believe.
  11. Oh wow, been away for a couple of weeks, that looks so defined, right NB filters on the Xmas list
  12. just another type of scope to confuse you Dobsonians
