Pimping the Meade AR6

I picked up a Meade AR6 at SGL 5 and decided that i wanted to give it a new lease of life, and with that the pimping began.

All the dings (and there were a few) sorted.

A new paint job

An erect image 9x50 right angled finder painted

Last but not least a new Moonlite single speed focuser.

Below are some before and after pics.

I just can't understand Meade making big refractors and giving them half a dew sheild...

Is the ota painted or powdercoated?

The dewsheild is aluminum made by Astrozap. I ordered it from FLO.

The paint is professionally sprayed with a metallic copper paint used on Suzuki cars....

The paint on these Meade scopes is very thick coated. So when you think you have a dent it's really quite a deep paint chip.

I sent it to a car body shop to get the paint job with the instruction of fixing any dents as well as the paint job. I believe they rolled out one deep dent and filled the rest....
