Llamanaut
Im just wondering if anyone can recommend a finder to use with a skyliner 300 dob? I'm looking at the Rigel quickfinder or a bog standard red dot finder at the moment . Also just spotted the baader 40mm on flo which looks nice too. Any recommendations? Astro_Baby
Tough one - lots of people like the Telrad. I prefer the Baader Skysurfer V.What do you want the finder to do that the standard one isnt doing for you ?

brantuk
I just fitted an Orion 9x50 raci to my flextube 300. My back will be eternally grateful
johninderby
The perfect setup with a 300 dob would be an Orion 9x50 RA finder and a Telrad with a 2" riser base to make it easier to look through. The Rigel Quikfinder is very good though, and is almost as good as the Telrad, and it is tiny in comparison and ideal for the smaller scope. JohnI have the Orion 9x50 RACI / Telrad combo on my 10" alt-az newtonian and it's a great setup I had a Quickfinder on my Meade 12" Lightbridge though and, as John says, it's a great alternative. I preferred it over a Telrad on the Meade because I was trying to keep top end OTA weight to a mimumum for reasons of balance.
Llamanaut
i have the same problem as many people trying to twist and contort myself to try and look through the finder. I was thinking about a right angle one or one thats raised up a bit like the rigel quikfinder...
Astro_Baby
I have a right angled finder and I have to say its great. I prefer a straight through BUT on a shortish reflector its almost impossible to use.
Chris H
On my 10" dob I have the factory fitted 9x50 finder scope and I've added a Telrad on a 4" riser. The Telrad works like a dream but the Rigel gets good reviews too.
