just read that nasa's last EVER space shuttle flight will be in november. am i reading this wrong or is this the end of manned space exploration?

Dont think it will be the end. if NASA dont do it other countries will like China etc.

It's the end of the shuttle programme, and it will leave NASA without the ability to put a person in space.

Their plan is to pay other people to do it for them, and eventually develop a commercial market for human launch capabilities...

I think that many people in December, 1972 would have bet big money that humans would return to the Moon in less than fifty years. In 1972, most people would have found such a time lapse to be inconceivable.

If you watch the first series of the Universe on any of the satellite channels we should have bases there by now , have flow a "plane" on Mars on the 100th anniversary of the Wright brothers first flight etc...

How times haev changed and the brakes put on manned exploration...
