Clear Last Nite

Did anyone notice how clear it was last nite, i was gobsmacked on how many clusters i could see from the naked eye.

it was actually one of the best observing nights this year, i was able to use my new OIII filter and Orion the structure looked fantastic especially when i used the 10MM eyepeice, i see what you mean about the OIII filter not making it a near photo quality image, however it shows more structure.

It was a good night

The level of dew was very low which meant excellent transparency

That sounds a brilliant sky and dry, dew free...wow i can only dream.

It looked like being a good night but the dew was nightmare in my area. I had the dew strap cranked to the max trying to keep the corrector clear. And just when i thought i was in for a good night Network Rail flicked the switch in the railway sidings and boom all the stars had gone!

I still managed a low contrast view of Mars and Saturn but nothing else. That said, Saturn in the Binoviewers was well worth all the effort. My first view of the ringed planet with binoviewers and it was an amazing 3D view.

Managed a couple of hours myself. First view of saturn this year, it looked a little pale and featureless as did Mars but a succession of open clusters didn't fail to impress.

Have to say that last nights imaging really has got my enthusiasm back - yay. The 'scope is in the garage hoping to catch a couple of hours of imaging before the clods roll in tonight

I was out last night but had very poor transparency. Nice conditions for Mars but everything else was a bit of a washout.

Fantastic nights viewing, only my second. Saturn was great to see, even the street lamp just below it failed to stop my enthusiasm .

Totally clouded over in NE Scotland, but then I've had such a terrible cold this week I probably wouldn't have taken advanage of the conditions had they been better.
