Hi everyone,

My name's Mark and I'm from Hampshire (UK). I've always been interested in looking at the night sky, but I guess I started acting on it last year. Since then my progression has been

  1. Bought some binoculars... first "wow" moment.
  2. Tried a point and shoot on a table top tripod.
  3. Got a DSLR and a cheap tripod. Pretty impressed.
  4. Got a prime lens. Even better.
  5. Agonised for ages, then bought an Astrotrac... long exposures here we come!
  6. Light pollution filter. Very impressed!
  7. Small refractor, pushing the limits of the mount.
  8. Astrotrac wedge to hold it all steadier... coming soon.

So here I am... I have a few lenses and the scope and I feel like I can photograph almost anything I like! weather permitting of course. I've learned so many things over the year, about the sky and planetary movement, about the equipment, about processing the images. And the most important rule of all ("never add up what you have spent!") :icon_eek:

Anyway, I've been living on the Canon camera forums Canon Digital Photography Forums - Powered by vBulletin

where they have one astronomy forum. I'll have to find my way round here to work out where to post!

Hopefully I can learn even more and help others out too if I can. Looking forward to it,

I'm happy to share some images... I guess I should just start threads in the appropriate imaging sections.

I've been looking in the FAQs... what are the limits for the dimensions and size (in kbytes) of images?
