Anyone observing in walsall tonight, looks like its going to be clear, will be the first proper night out with the 12 inch dob, "still needs collimating" If anyone has a site to goto, and transport i dont mind sharing the scope.

I'm buying a hotech laser next week. They seem to be pretty good.

I've used the scope once since it came, and stars would focus to pinpoints, no flaring. Although i could see some blurriness on the outskirts.

Need an early night as at work early tomorrow, but hoping to get outside for a while, might be able to try out the new Rigel Quikfinder (which arrived from FLO today in double quick time ). Looking good at the moment, time for those pesky clouds yet though!!

PS - I've got no collimation aid yet either for mine, I'm getting sharp images and I'm being cowardly and waiting till I'm with someone who knows what they're doing!

What website do you find most accurate for predicting cloud cover over the night?

Prediction says my sky will be cloudy but fortunately they miss a lot. Let's see how my luck goes...

I don't believe it, all set up and then clouds have appeared from nowhere. Logged on to sat24, and nearly everywhere is clear, but just this finger of cloud stretching across the West Midlands!! Will wait a bit to see if it clears... did just about have time to set my new quikfinder up though.

That horrid finger of cloud scuppered me as well and there isa big blob sitting over SW Wales now - at least I did do some observing , hope everyone else has a clear night
