Herakles
I'm just back from imaging those same NLC's from east of Glasgow. We had a nice wee display to the North. Lovely images there.Pete

beetlejuice
For the technically minded, the photograph was taken with a Canon 400D with an EF28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 USM lense @ 28mm (44.8mm APS-C equivalent), f3.5, 2 second exposure @ ISO400. This was one of about 30 exposures I made at various settings. It just happened this was the best one. Biggest problem was obtaining sharp focus as the autofocus won't work on sky objects and the infinity setting on manual gives blurred images. So a bit of trial and error was involved. Thank goodness for Digital !I also use some blu tack , to stop the focus ring from shifting, handy if you're moving the tripod/camera about . I used to take a whole series of photos on slide film only to be expensively disappointed!
