Sorry for not posting much recently, been very busy on a little science project :-)

Anyway, first of a few from the past few days.. That MASSIVE prom today.

PST 80 at F25/Skynyx 2-0m

Stack of 500 frames for the prom and 75 for the surface

Nick, that is fantastic work. That prom is magnificent! Your images for scale are excellent, haven't seen anything like that before, really puts it into perspective. Out of interest, going on barkis' comment... do proms and other solar activity affect us here on Earth? Is there a marked difference in weather conditions if, say, the Sun has a particularly 'active' period? Fascinating stuff.

There is a correlation between solar activity and cycles and global weather patterns, but singel events like this, I am not sure what the net effect is. Thank you so much for the comments though.

Great images Nick. As a result I have just been outside (14.30 - 1st June) and viewed 2 large proms in my PST. Also notice sunspots. Changed scope to WO 66 with thousand oaks filter and yes we have a small group of spots. Is this the start of the sun showing signs of activety?
