Noctilucent Clouds - Wester Ross, Scotland - 25/06/2024

Recommended Posts

Last night on the coast at Melvaig in Wester Ross on the north-west coast of Scotland. After a stunning sunset a further treat brought a wonderful display of noctilucent clouds. The first image is a single shot with a 16mm lens. The second is something a bit different using a 10mm semi-fisheye lens.

Another one from last week which I've finally got round to getting done. This one is an eight shot stitch of the clouds from the same night. Again taken at Melvaig on the west coast of Scotland looking over The Minch towards the Isles of Lewis and Harris.

Really beautiful. What time were they taken? I’ve seen them recently here in SW Ireland but only lately and through frustratingly lower cloud.

Cheers, Magnus

Cheers. These were in view from around 23:00 to 01:00 on that night. This time of the year is the peak time to view these due to a lot of contributing factors apart from the dreaded normal clouds and the lack of darkness this far north!

Absolutely beautiful. The fish eye shot is reminiscent of a photo of Earth from the ISS😀
