What would you do if you had to give up all but five of your eyepieces?

Don't panic! It's only an exercise!

I might change mine a little -

30mm UFF
22mm LVW
13mm Nirvana
7mm Nirvana
3.3mm TOE

So we have:
In the 4" - x25, x34, x57, x106, x224

In the 12" - x51, x69, x117, x217, x461

In reality there's not enough at the high power end for planetary, but, that's why I have so many

How many goes do we get at this ? 🙂

Another set that would work for me (no barlows or zooms in this one) would be a mix of hyper wide angle EP's for low and medium magnification and more regular wide angles for the shorter focal lengths. So Ethos 21mm, Ethos 13mm, Pentax XW 7mm, 5mm and 3.5mm

With my 900mm focal length refractors that gives 43x, 69x, 129x 180x and 257x

and in the 1200mm focal length scope 57x, 92x, 171x, 240x, 343x

Probably a gap of sorts there somewhere around 100x / 120x though 🤔

Probably best to treat this as a 5-a-side team with plenty of reserves back on the bench for substitutions depending on how the "game" plays out 😁

I might go Pentax XW 40mm, 16.5mm & 10mm, ES 92 12mm and Powermate 2x.

That'll give me 53x, 106x, 130x, 178x, 213x, 260x, 356x, 427x

Surely I'm allowed a Powermate if it's one of the 5? 😇

Using a hyper-wide like the ES 92 with the Powermate is fun although the resulting "stack" can be a little daunting 🙄

I do it quite a bit.

ES92 12 in a 2" clicklock over a Pierro Astro ADC above a 2" 2x powermate (with T ring)  in a 2" BBHS diagonal.  (And all that at optimal back focus distance for the scope).

The view is fantastic - but I don't let go 🤪

My today choices are:

Morpheus 17.5. I am using it in MB2 binoviewer, with eyecups removed, should I count it twice? 😄 This is my most used eyepiece today, together with the 2 Baader GPCs and the ED comma corrector from APM, there are plenty of variations in the magnification

Morpheus 9, same usage, more magnification; no eyecup for the most immersive experience

APM XWA 13

APM XWA 7

The 5th most beloved eyepiece, should be either APM XWA 20mm, or APM UFF 30mm- both are on the wishlist; or APM XWA 5mm, who knows?

24mm Panoptic pair

18mm BGO  pair

13mm Nagler pair

9mm Nagler pair

These give me excellent choices with the Denkmeier powerswitch.

APM 7.7 / 15.4mm zoom.

I would be very happy with just these, the rest could go......but probably won't.
