Solar Eclipse, 08/04/24, who needs to travel? :)

Having just been reminded about next years total solar eclipse I investigated the circumstances and saw that I might see first contact just at sunset. Here is what Stellarium shows for my locatio.

Whith a clear horizon, good atmospheric conditions and refratction, it might be a photo opportunity! 😁

That's a good point. I miss first contact by about half a degree from home...

...but if I went to St Ives it is doable... the only problem being that sky safari doesnt show you the cloud that's going to be obscuring your view...

I've only seen the green flash a couple of times in many years of looking but I guess there is about as much chance of capturing that as there is of capturing first contact of the eclipse!
