BAA seeks your views about amateur astronomy

With so much information for amateurs available on the internet now at the touch of a button or swipe on a smart device, including the resources and voices on SLG, is there a future for Journals and magazine, either printed or in electronic form?

The BAA have set up a survey to seek opinions from everyone on this (members or the BAA or not), and about the BAA Journal. There is also a copy of the BAA Journal if you've not seen it before.

I have been a member of the BAA for 10 years. I do enjoy reading the journal but I have to admit some of the papers are way too technical for me to understand.

Not quite the same time frame from me, but your words echo my own otherwise.

I've been a member for quite a while  the journal has some great content with depth that you don't get in many places these days but a number or articles are tough to understand or appreciate unless you have very specialist knowledge.

I used to be a member about 15 years or so ago but I remember thinking it was quite old fashioned - for example you couldn't just pay and join but your membership needed some sort of "approval". My membership lapsed as I didn't really find it value for money. What put me off reapplying was there used to be a clause they could chase you up for the missing years if you rejoined!

I asked my family for a Membership of the BAA as a Christmas present last year. Getting that done proved to be impossible - they didn't answer emails. I will give it a miss.
