Monoceros Mosaic

Hi all, this is my effort at a 3 panel mosaic in Hargb taken over 6 nights from early February to early March. Total exposure time is just shy of 20 hours.

The Ha was captured using a duoband filter in 300 second subs at gain 100 and the rgb was 180 seconds at gain 0.

Takahashi Epsilon 160ed with the Asi2600mc

Processing was done in APP, PI and PS.

Just to echo my comment over on AB, this really is an amazing image Richard. From dark dust to bright reflection nebula, it makes for a very well composed mosaic with a bit of everything in it. 

I've recently started dabbling a bit with Pixinsight. It's early days, but I can certainly see the benefit of it (if not the fun!). Do you mind me asking, what processes do you usually use on your images? I know you stack in APP and finish in PS, just curious which parts you use P.I for.

Regarding Pixinsight, I use many of the modules and not all on every image. ArcSin stretch, star alignment, scnr, starnet2, dark structure enhance and the usual histogram transformation, curves etc. I don't bother with things like pixel math as I find layers in photoshop gives a higher level of control and is more intuitive.

Absolutely beautiful image Richard! All of the background is full of nebulosity. Wonderful image!

Richard that really is spectacular. There's so much detail to take in and lots of food for thought for future study. I love the "mermaid's purse" NGC2261 in the bottom left.

Thats just fantastic. Such a wide range from dark nebulae to the bright centers but all perfectly balanced. Beautiful.

What a nice field of view! It is very nice to see some wider compositions of relatively well-known objects.

That's lovely Richard, nice and wide to get the emission and reflection nebula juxtaposed across the frame like inverse of each other. I like it.
