Probable Nova in Aries

A mag 11.9 transient, a likely nova, has been reported in Aries.

Nice job Les.

For those not aware, this has now been classified as a WZ Sge type dwarf nova. The largest amplitude one on record

Mag 13.9 the last two nights, so it’s still in the bright plateau phase

@JeremyS thanks for the heads up.

Finally had a very clear night here (despite the weather forecast suggesting otherwise) and managed to image it. I make it Mag 14.8 (ASTAP) -  I note on Monday you posted a light curve on the BAA forum Jeremy which suggests that measurement is thereabouts.

Below is the image, no darks or flat etc. Just some minor curves in GIMP once it was out of ASTAP.

Measured as 15.4 yesterday evening, so continuing to dim.
