95% Moon-lit couples

Recommended Posts

I had a nice getaway to Lyme Regis last week.  The chalet overlooked the Cobb and on Saturday night the sky was clear and the moon was bright.  There were many people taking photos of the moon from the Cobb but in a moment of calm I managed to capture these two couples enjoying the view.

Taken with my 6D and my Sigma 150-600 @150mm f/11.  Bracket of 3 shots, 1/160th for the moon, 0.4s for the sea and 0.8s for the foreground and Cobb. Merged and tweaked in GIMP.

Thanks for the comments.  It was an exciting one to take as there were loads of people on the Cobb and I was hoping to get just one couple stood there.  I'm a bit disappointed with the couple on the beach as they are a bit blurred, might be due to the high dynamic range in that part of the image, perhaps they were fidgeting too.  I'm half tempted to clone them out.

The untrained observer (i.e. me🙄) wouldn't notice the blurring and the couple sitting highlighted in the lunar reflection adds atmosphere. Perfect images aren't necessarily the best images anyway. Leave them in. 👍
