Saw that big sunspot today, without a scope!

Took my 100mm solar filter out and held it up to the sun.  The big sunspot in AR2786 was just visible.  Yes it is big!

Nice observation. Anyone thinking of trying note you must use a filter. Don't look at the sun directly with the naked eye.

I was going to try and see it with eclipse glasses before getting the scope and solar filter out. Been clouded/fogged out all weekend!

I did exactly the same yesterday with my Astrozap 100mm solar filter and was amazed to be able to clearly see the larger of the spots through the solar filter using just the Mk 1 eyeball.

Put the scope out later, but only got about 10 mins viewing before the clouds rolled in and spoiled the fun.
