DeepSkyDad AF3 Q

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Hope everyone safe & well.  Just a quick Q.  I have managed to set up my DSD AF3 on my imaging scope and tested it during the day - it seems to be focusing in and out.

Have yet to try it at night.  I am going to use it w EKOS.  Was just wondering is it better to start with the focuser tube fully retracted in and let autofocus do its thing, or better to try and manually focus roughly and then let the electronics take over.

(I'm unsure about the first option b/c when you press autofocus, its takes an image and asks you to pick a star, but if the scope is massively out of focus then it won't see a star anyway?).

Thank you!

Vin

Just a note, if you do starter with it fully racked in, make sure it’s set to zero in Ekos, or you may damage your focuser if it’s a rack and pinion type... 👍😀
