Upper atmosphere of Venus

Great shot ed

I have a question on shooting Venus with a UV-pass filter - how do you balance longer exposures (2 secs+) with the seeing? What exposures do you use on the UV portion? I assume the IR and normal are 1/250 etc. How did you composite them?

Still trying to achieve a UV image of Venus - focusing is a *nightmare*!

excellent image again

cheers

Hi Philip

To focus in UV you have to max out all sliders and gains

just to see the disk, and you need to focus with at least 1/5

of a second ,only after that you bring down your settings to a managable level.

Even then the image will not be sharp and require some

procesing to enhance the clouds.

The mono image has better contrast than the composite but the composites are sharper.

Do not use a colour cam for UV (even in mono mode) as you will put just noise onto the chip

from part of the bayer matrix.

You really need a Mono came to get the data wich at this altitude is fuzzy.

Hope that helps.
