Books for a newbie

Recommended Posts

Hey! I'm quite new to the Astronomy hobby and i was looking from some books to help me learn the basics. I just ordered "Astronomy 101 (Adams 101)" and "Collins Statgazing: Beginners guide to astronomy". Do you think these 2 books are good for an introduction to astronomy? Do you recommend any other reading? Thank you very much in advance

Second the recommendation for Turn Left at Orion. A nice atlas is the Pocket Sky Atlas (PSA) from Sky and Telescope. An atlas is important for star hopping and even selecting things to look at. PSA is a good tool for both.

The Pocket Sky Atlas is a nightmare to find. Amazon want £59 for the first edition and the second addition is still unavailable. How is the Cambridge Atlas as a reference? I'm also going to buy one this month.
