Bodes and Cigar Duo

Tried drift polar alignment for the first time and finished up with this capture. Obtained 1 hour 52 mins total exposure on the morning of 27th December.

Skywatcher ED80, Modded Canon 350D, CLS filter.

90 seconds X 74 subs at 800 ISO

Stacked in DSS, Levels, Curves in PS, Noel's actions for light pollution removal.

Unguided since PHD was freezing up after a few minutes each time. Need to figure out why.

I have a feeling that there's more data in there than I have been able to bring out. Anyone would like to have a go? Here's the zipped tif file from DSS.

A great example of Deep Space star Islands. At least that's how I see them. Your processing looks fine to me.

The red ejecting arms of M82 are very visible which is always a good pointer

Nice unguided work Vince. You obviously did a good job with the drift aligning. Not sure whether there is a load more detail to come out without - there looks to be plenty there, to smooth things out further you are looking at 3 hours+
