Focuser tight

I bought a new dual speed focuser and i am wondering if i can tune it so it isnt so tight to turn

The silver knob in the centre is a lock screw. Make sure it isn't tightened.

Have you got the bottom plate square??..If I remember right there is a plate that holds the whole thing in place, if it’s not square it’ll make everything tight

Yes its all square just double checked but still a bit tight to turn

I would guess based on previous focuser experience that those two set/grub screws directly centered over the pinion axle on the bottom plate determine the tension.  Typically, there's a single one centered near that silver locking screw, but yours appears to have two.  I would also guess they have to have equal tension, so after backing them off with an allen key/hex wrench, make sure to tighten them in small increments and equally to suit your liking in tension.

Yes, there it is, the centered tension screw I mentioned.  I just couldn't see it in the photo due to the lack of any reflections off of it.

I had the same problem a couple of years ago and searched hi and lo on my computer for the document knew it would come in handy one day to help others like it helped me..
