what is the cheapest option for me to motorise my ed80 and control it with APT? now my pier is built manually focusing will be the only thing that will require me to take the laptop to the mount .

I use the sesto senso and happy with it. No issue to get it work with apt. Easy to change it from one scope to the other scope.

It's a lovely looking focuser, was hoping for something cheaper, used would be ok, just not sure what I should be looking out for on the forums.

There is DIY solution - you need a bit of electronics skills and a bit of "programming" (not really - just plug arduino into USB port and run some "commands" - there is good guide/tutorial for this).

Depending where you source your parts, it can cost you something like 40-50 to build it.
