Replacement Mono Camera

I’m in the market for a new Mono camera.

Im now at the point where I’m going around in circles with the options!

Ive got  budget of around £1500-1600 

it will be used on my 80mm Triplet and Esprit 120.   I’ve already got a good filter wheel with filters etc.

What would your recommendations be?   CCD or CMOS ?

Can’t help you but that’s a great position to be in! Hopefully will head this direction in the next 2-3 years.

Oh goodness...... now there's a conundrum. What size filters do you have? This could be a significant factor in the decision making process.

Seeing as you already have an Atik 383 and filters I might be thinking ZWO ASI1600 Pro. The smaller pixels will suite your Esprit 80 and it's not too dissimilar to the 383 in FoV.

Is the ATIK383 dead or something? Not much in that price range that you will give you a significant performance boost over your current camera.
