amazing Venus-Mars conjunction close up 2017.10.06

Recommended Posts

Excellent shots Pete.  I viewed the two planets close together on 5th at 6.14am.  At this time Venus and Mars were 26' apart.  The star to the left of Venus forming the triangle was Sigma Leonis, may 4.05.  Image taken with Olympus E-M5 Mk11, 75-300mm zoom set at 85mm, 16000asa, 1/6 sec leaning on the edge of a hide at Leighton Moss RSPB reserve in North Lancashire.

Lovely image. I often think such simple shots with basic kit are the best really.  There's an object just below and to the left of Venus that I thought initially was one of the galaxies in Leo. But quick inspection of Sky Safari suggests there's nothing there. So maybe it's a lens reflection of Venus?
