Read the notes :-

Notes:

These raw values are not appropriate for comparing camera models because they are not adjusted for gain or area.
The shape of the curve can tell you something about the amplifier circuitry of the camera.

Ah, I didnt realise that.

Ah good spot.

I can pick up an 1000d for 80 quid, or a 600d for 170. I think I will just choose the 1000d and try to mod it myself.

no idea if this is more accurate (But its what I used for upgrading from 450d)

BTW my 600d is a 'Kiss x5' same camera different name usually sold at cheaper prices

Thanks for that. What was your reason behind upgrading from the 450d to the 600d?

I got my 450d secondhand (in poor condition) it was a great starter DSLR and fine for daylight, but very noisy for astro!

Ah god, very hard to decide! Do you think it would be worthwhile to get a 600d over a 1000d?

I have both camera types, fully modded by Juan, and overall, I prefer the 600D, it's the old adage, for Canon, the less number of digits in camera number, the better the camera, better sensitivity, less noise etc....

Interesting. Whichever one I get, i'm going to mod it myself to save some money. Is the noise difference worth the extra money for the 600d compared to say a 450d, 1000d or 1100d?

Put simply, yes....  it's not just the lower noise level, but the complete signal to noise ratio.

As for modding it yourself, good luck. especially when it comes to re-siting the sensor such that the focal plane is 'restored' to the correct position.
