Who says you need a telescope for AP? Antares region and Milky Way

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

after weeks of ordinary weather (or moon) at last a chance to go outside again. The image is taken with the Pentax K30 and the 50mm DAL f/1.8 prime lens stepped down to f/2.5. 30 x 180sec ISO200.

Clear skies!

Jaysus that's super! Makes me want to try this sort of view.

Thanks a lot. It actually makes a interesting change to go widefield.

Oh wow.fantastic image.would love to see that first hand.   Did you have to travel far for clear  skies ?

Thanks. I am fortunately enough to live at a fairly dark spot. So, about 5m from my back door :)

Super! What was the camera mounted on?

Sorry, my mistake. I had the camera on the HEQ5. Looks funny, such a massive mount for a DSLR with a small prime lens. But i've got he mount - might as well use it.

Nice. How high in the sky does this target ride for you?

Olly

Thanks Olly, just to make you jealous, at its highest it is about 75° - pretty much overhead.
