Finally...1st light, ES 127. M81/M82.

Well guys, after what feels like two years but only (only lol) two months of waiting for the clouds to break, my new ES 127 triplet finally got a look in.

The image is a combination of 8min and 6min subs (pesky moon) for a total intergration time of 2hrs 38mins before the mist came in.

Thanks Michael, i tried lots of masking and denoising in PI but just couldn't get rid, i need more clear skies to get more images to practice on :icon_biggrin:.

Looks good Mark!

Also nice to find another ES127apo user here on SGL - very happy with mine. Are you using a flattner or reducer? You stars in the corners are a bit elongated so I assume a flattner may be your next investment.

I'm hoping to get a flattener/reducer soon, it would be good not only to get that flat field but a slightly reduced FL and increased FR would benefit the ES very well. Do you have a recommendation by any chance?

I use this 0.79 x reducer from TS. Works well both for my ES 127 and ES 80. You need a 10 mm T2 extension between the reducer and the Canon ring when you use it for the ES127 (16 mm when used with the ED 80).

That is a good idea - reducing the FL and going from f/7.5 to f/5.9 makes AP easier.

It does do both! It's called a "corrector/reducer". But you'll need to fine tune the sensor distance. The flattener just flattens but doesn't change the effective fl and is used on its own.

Maybe I was not clear, but the TS reducer I suggested is also a flattener (I thought most reducers also were flatteners). So, if yo get a reducer like that  it will also give you a flat field.
