Petavius Area on 01MAR2017

Another most excellent image from Brenner in Brazil. From your comments on the Rima. From my own Moon meanderings, my interest was also drawn to Pertavius quite some time back, I gather, from information and close up photographic images, taken by the Japanese lunar orbiter, "Kaguya" launched September 2007. Petavius, unlike all other craters, is cut by this giant; deep trench, that connects its rim with the central peaks. Other smaller and more typical riles class Petavius as a floor fractured crater, the floor being domed upwards and fractured. I do not suppose anybody will discover why until there is a regular Moon Bus at some time in the very distant future :)
