Venus and first Orion Nebula sketch 24th February 2017

Venus was observed again and is further along in its phase; down to over 10% but less than 15% illuminated.
The terminator was very much not as rounded as observed before, is that correct or was it the variable seeing?

Another first, tried to sketch the Orion Nebula M42, struggled with this from my lacking sketching skills, but coveys what I saw back to me, 
which sure;y is the main point of this as well as being fun.

Any pointers on nebula sketching tecnique will be received openly and be much appreciated, thanks.
