Vixen Flip Mirror connection with telescope

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've come into possession of a Vixen Flip Mirror (Link) however it looks like I need an adaptor of some sort to attach to the back of my telescope, a Celestron Evolution 8 SCT.  Can someone point me in the right direction please which one I need.

Also, I have a T-ring so presume I just screw this to the other end of the flip mirror once in the mirror and then add canon camera to the t-ring or is there a better way?

Many thanks in advance. Incidentallly, I'm compiling a ton of these newbie type questions for a planned FAQ blog of my own one day!

Yes, the T thread connections on either side of the Vixen body should be used.

For the SCT you need a SCT> T thread adaptor - I'm sure FLO will have them.

I'd leave the 1.25" tube on the non camera port to use with an eyepiece.

Hope this helps.

The flip mirror needs a 2" push fit connection (it has a 2" nose piece) to connect to the scope, not a T-thread so I don't think that Modern Astro adapter is the correct one. It has T-threads on the rear side and top side once the 1.25" adapter tubes are removed.

This thread shows links to some Baader and other SCT-to-2 inch adapters:

It also has some photos that illustrate how a 2 inch push fit diagonal would be used - the flip mirror would be put in the same way.
