M 81 and M 82 widefield. Experimentation!

Recommended Posts

I thought I would try a different approach to usual and go for short exposures, low iso and no filters, the rationale being to see if not using filters has any effect on the resultant image. I think overall, it worked well. I managed to get some natural blue and yellow in the image and it seems to have more detail than a recent M 81 and M82 that I used 5min exposures and a UHC on.

I also used it to test out some spacing on a new flattener. Unfortunately, there is is still coma though much has been cropped out of this image. So mixed results but informative nevertheless!

72 ED-R, 100D (modded) 60 X 2min subs, iso 400, dithered, bias and flats, DSS, PS.
