I seem to have got the guiding sorted out now (if not the processing).

Sometimes the diffraction spikes add to an image, but not in this case, IMO.

It looks like the collimation is a tad out too.

Atik16ic-s @ prime focus on Explorer, guiding - webcam, ST80, PHD, 10x5mins stacked in DSS, levels and curves in CS2.

Nice bubble Steve. Did you use Noel's actions for the spikes? You can tone them down a bit if following the action you select "as layer on top" then reducing the opacity in the layers box.

You did just fine - diffraction spikes can be a mixed blessing but using your Explorer 200 means that you will get them whether you want them or not! Natural spikes make sense, NC ones less so but there are exceptions where adding them in a discrete manner can certainly enhance an image.
