17th Aug H-Alpha (Contrast Blended Proms!)

OK, don't get TOO excited but...

The "challenge" of imaging the extreme brigtness variations of the recent
detached prominence rather struck me. Basically I wondered if I could use
so-called "contrast blending" on the prominence layer. The answer: YES 
(I cheat using a pre-written Script within GIMP to blend THREE layers!)

Whether it is of real use for small-scale images of prominences is perhaps
doubtful <grin> But worth investigating for (your) larger scale images!

Yep, north at top west at left but a very nice image.

Nice composite Chris.

I use Gong (http://halpha.nso.edu/ ) to get the orientation correct.  Just mirror and rotate until it looks correct.
