Solar June 4th

Recommended Posts

Good effort. Focus is key and very difficult at the minute with very minimal detail on the disk. I plug my DSLR into my laptop and use the live view function so I can focus using a bigger screen. Even then, with no spots it is very difficult to judge. The other thing I would check is your exposure as the disk looks very bright. With my 1100D and 120mm scope I regularly use 1/4000th second exposure.

Hopefully something will come around to focus on, you chose a really bad week to start solar images.

Have you got a Barlow ?

Once focused try cutting exposure time to start with a really dim image and gradually increase exposures to find a sweet spot, just take single images and make a note of the settings.
