Bahtinov mask placement.

I'm planning on getting a mask for my 9.25. I use a dew shield with this scope. What I'm wondering is does the mask have to sit on the front of the telescope or can I place it on the front of the dew shield to get focus.

Doesn`t even need to be centralised, just hang it over the front of the shield

Don't forget to remove it before you slew the scope - speaking from experience.

Yep, been there done that.

 

And - don't forget to take it off before you start imaging - done that too

All of the above plus... shop more and get a metal one.

Plastic breaks.

Especially of you slip it into a jacket pocket, then pick up things. It does not exactly super glue well.

And don't be fooled by those 4 way kinds. The tri-star works fine. The one that shows four points is a PITA to use.
