changing dslr from Niikon to Canon

Hi

I'm using nikon where all the t2 flange to sensor distances are 55mm. It works fine. I plan to get a modded Canon soon. Is the flange to sensor fixed on all Canon cameras too? I'm hoping that all I will have to change is the t2 adapter.

Any info for a total and utter Canon newbie most gratefully accepted

Most people use Canons so you should not have any issues. In fact the software support is much better for Canons.

All the Canons I have used have a 44mm back focus from body flange.  The Nikons I am aware of have a 46.5mm back focus from body flange.

Thanks. I'm thinking about the t2 adapter too. Are the Canon adapters the same thickness as Nikon?

Depends what supplier you use but I have several suitable for Canon and they vary by no more than 1 mm, usually 10 or 11mm thick.  You can get narrower ones too.  I also have 42mm and 48 mm versions depending upon what I am attaching it too.  I sold a Nikon one recently, Japanese made, and it was 10mm thick.

Why are you worried about the T2 flange to sensor distance ?

Unless you have a Reducer, where this distance is crucial.

Otherwise a couple of mills should be accomodated by your focuser.

My flattener or petzval or whatever it's called has to be a fixed distance from the sensor. Thanks.
