300mm Serrurier build

Hi everyone,

I am building a 300mm serrurier truss (ST) right now as a winter project. I have attached a couple  picture of my progress to date.

 

I started out wanting to build a newtonian ST version of the tube to use as an imaging instrument for astro-photography. A 300mm  F/5 would have been glorious!

Unfortunately, halfway through the build, I realized that the tube assembly exceeded the payload weight limit on my mount by about 5 kg.

So I decided to build a dobsonian version instead. I still have to build the rocker box and paint the entire thing.

Wow, looks great Francois. Lots of cutout work to save weight, did you do all that by hand with router or on a CNC machine? Can't wait to see the finished product.
