Toenail Clipping

Absolutely beautiful new moon this evening, a very thin crescent but very bright in an angry and confused sky, only a few minutes before swallowed by the cloud, but it looked great, even from the car. Probably the brightest I have ever seen such a thin crescent.

I saw a glimps of Jupiter before the clouds covered the sky. Guess the moon is somewhere behind them.

I spent the evening hanging up a washing line in a strategic place and cutting out plastic, so that at next observation, I can hang the plastic in front of the neighbour's porch lights, that are around the whole house, 4 on my side. ?

Well done.

Spotting very old/young Moons was going to be a project of mine. Clouds have prevented very much progress I'm afraid.

There are some hard core crescent chasers out there who capture some unbelievably young and old Moons. The good news it just takes patience, knowledge and a smattering of skill. No fancy kit required! :)

Or  luck! Shame I couldn't photograph it.

I was going to say that myself but din't want to take anything from the OP's achievement!:angel8:

Most, if not all the thin crescents I've spotted were by accident more than anything else. That's why I keep thinking about what could be achieved with a concerted effort.
