Managed to get out last night with this cam. It was clear, but

not all that good for imaging. Lunar 1, was a single image.

Jupiter was a 3min run. Have got a lot better. Lunar 2016 .bmp,

has come out about the best.  Being USB 3, really makes a difference.

Once I get used to the settings in Sharp Cap, I will be away.

Very good planetary camera. Works well with the C8.

Steve.

Good results Steve especially the lunar single shot.

Your Jupiter looks very similar to the results I'm getting with my 8" scopes and a 6" here in Western Australia, hot Summer here atm. I can see some detail starting to emerge in your shot, hope you have better conditions there soon for imaging.

I'm very tempted to buy this imager myself.

It will be interesting to see your results with this cam Steve as Jupiter approaches opposition. Make sure you keep the histogram nice and high to negate those onion rings.

Hi Stuart. It was working out the settings I needed in

Sharp Cap last night.  I have always used EZ Planetary,

so this was a bit of a wake up  call. Jupiter was a colour

image, not a raw image which   I normally take.  We will

get there. It is better cam, than I have got.  USB 3 is a

lot quicker.

I think a lot of it is to do with the Jetstream Dave,

most of the time . When I took the lunar

pictures, there was a gap. The Jupiter picture

was taken a few hours later, when there wasn't.

Steve.

You're probably right Steve, just not sure what's going on here this end. I haven't had a decent imaging night yet with Jupiter, been on it for a while now.

Interesting thing is, my last attempt turned out with the usual result that I've been getting. I did pack that scope away and got out my older Celestron Celestar 8" SCT that needed collimating. After collimating it I had my best visual of Jupiter to date just before the dim light before sun up. Maybe I did have that small window of good viewing.

A couple of good images there, I think you are about the Jetstream it right over the UK Saturday morning and the seeing was pretty poor!

There was a gap about 1900, Friday, when I a got the lunar

image. Jupiter I took about 5 o clock, Sat morning, & it was

rubbish for imaging. Jet stream was right over. Way

it goes. Gear was out, so I thought I would give it a try.

Try the Fire Capture colleague Steve, he is far superior to Sharp Cap and has far more resources. Usually I have used hystogran between 70 and 80% to achieve good results.

Hi Astroavani. Have tried Fire Capture. Just cannot get  it to work properly,

with  this cam . Works ok with my IMG132E cam. Sharp Cap , seems to be

the only one , it works properly with.  ZWO, do not produce a program of

there own, to use with there cams. Every body else does. Seems strange.

Steve
