Do you have any more photos ? I can't work out how this mount works as a GEM. It appears to have only one rotating axis (RA  ?), but that  is pointing in the wrong direction for an eq. the mount could be part of an equatorial fork mount, but that is just a guess.

it does look like it's missing its dec axis, but I can see some "gubbins" just running out of shot lower right which *could* be the dec axis.

It's got some of the look and feel of a Beacon Hill equatorial head. It's not he mk2, which I used to have, but the engineering looks similar.

It probably is half of an equatorial mount, missing the dec axis.. The small strut on the right appears to be for adjusting the latitude and the Byers drive moves the mount on the RA.

Looking again at the "gubbins" I can see what looks like a segment of brass wheel, which could be the dec drive wheel. Just guessing you understand.
