canon 750d (is this a good upgrade)

I'm looking to upgrade dslr from a canon 500d

I'm looking at the 750d

I'm using a cpc 9.25 and shooting the moon

Is this the right purchase?

Or should I spend a little more?

Wouldn't a DSLR with bigger pixels be more sensitive to low light, I talking about DSLRs that have a lower res, like 8 or 10 mega pixel,  on APS-C sensors as opposed to higher res?

Either way, I don't think you will be disappointed with a 750D.

500d is not a slouch so I guess the only real world upgrade to the 750d has a swivel screen.

Actually the 500d does work OK

I've had it for many years now and have just upgraded scope so while I have some spare cash I'd like to upgrade camera to.

My budget could stretch to around £1500

£1500 is a lot of budget.

Why not consider what you want to shoot for that, as just shooting our wonderful Moon can be done with what you have.

If there is more subjects you want to shoot there may be better ways to spend that money then changing the camera.

I have ordered the new baader Morpheus

Eyepiece kit which should arrive sometime in December

I noticed you can hook up a dslr to those

So should I invest in the ccd instead?

To help get replies I think you need to say what you hope to image with your new telescope.

What mount is your telescope on?

For 1500 pounds I would get the Canon 6D  for deep sky and a QHY5 II colour for  Planetry.

The 6D is full frame and very sensitive.

If you are only interested in imaging the Moon in detail and the planets get a good colour CCD for capturing frames at a very fast rate directly to the PC - then stacking using AutoStakkert or Registax.  The results will be far better than a DSLR.

Your CPC925 is Alt/Az so not good for DSO.  If you go to imaging DSOs in the future put the money towards a very good EQ mount or I believe an equatorial wedge can be put on the CPC (but no idea how practical this is) and a small APO refractor.

The mount is the one that came with the 9.25 so it's no good for dsos I understand that now

There are numerous CCDs (or CMOS technology which is getting better) for planetary imaging.  You may be better off asking in a separate thread for recommendations to get a better response.
