WO 66mm Adapter to use 2" nosepiece?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I want to play with my WO66 Petzval and my AtikOne CCD.

I have a 2" nosepiece on the camera, and would like to connect this directly to the focuser on the scope.

The focuser has a visual back that is SCT-threaded - I know this as I have a standard SCT-2" adapter which threads on successfully - BUT, because the adapter is threaded all the way, when I thread it on the focuser, it keeps turning until it falls off the end!

My internet searching shows I need a P-SCT2A adapter, but these are rare as hens teeth apparantly!

Any other suggestions anyone??

This might work but you would have to double check, have only seen the WO Petzval and ATIKOne in the virtual world so can't be 100% sure.

How about using a standard SCT to T2 adaptor?

The ATIKOne has a T2 female thread on the front, at least according to the manual, and the WO has a SCT male thread on the focuser so in theory a straight SCT to T2 coupler from Meade or Celestron should do the job.

Only issue might be camera angle once it is all screwed up, if there is no rotation adjustment on the visual back then you have to add fine T2 spacers between the coupler and camera face until you get the desired camera angle with everything tight.

Harrison telescopes have the SCT to T2 adaptors listed at £13.99.

Think the Celestron adaptor has a captive SCT coupling ring which allows the barrel to rotate independently in which case the camera angle would be adjustable without resorting to adding T2 spacers otherwise  FLO carry the T2 Delrin spacers for £10.

Daz, I've used this fitting before to do just what you are after. It has nylon locking screws to hold the adaptor in place once you've screwed it on far enough.

It's not ideal in that there is no compression ring fitting to accept the 2" barrel, just two locking screws but it does work.
